Make stickers
Each sticker gets its own code, so every box has its own history. Print on 1.5-inch square label sheets, or on plain paper and tape them on.
Print one test page on plain paper first to check alignment. Each time you open this page you get new random codes, so print or download before leaving.
How to attach your stickers
- Pick the spot: the bottom right corner on the front of the box, about ¼ inch in from the edges. Keep it on the lid only, not across the seam where the lid opens.
- One sticker per box. If the box already has a PuzzleCache sticker, don't add another. Just scan the one that's there.
- Wipe the spot so it's clean and dry. Dust and old price-tag gunk stop stickers from sticking.
- Label sheets: peel the sticker and press it down firmly, smoothing from the center out to the edges.
- Plain paper: tick "Printing on plain paper" above before printing, cut along the dashed lines, then cover the whole sticker with clear tape, overlapping the box by about ¼ inch on every side so the edges are sealed. Packing tape works well, and matte tape cuts down on glare.
- Test it: scan the sticker with your phone before putting the puzzle out. If the tape is wrinkled or shiny right over the code, smooth it or re-tape.
